When it is taken with decoction of Shalmali (Shalmalia malabarica), Anghri (Uraria lagopioides) or with plain fresh water, it will lead to increase of Shukra, increases sexual capacity to a great extent, makes the person look youthful, increase ability to talk like a poet or a writer, increase health and feeling of good living making the person have a better ability to earn and live happily, postpones ageing, increase physical strength, postpones natural death, increases immunity and keeps away diseases, increase body lustre and cures the grave disease even though it is present before the use of this preparation. Other than these benefits it has the capacity to cure diseases like Shwasana (Breathlessness), Kshaya (Consumption or Tuberculosis) and even Kasa (Cough). It also cures the most dreadful conditions of Atisara (Diarrhoea or Dysentry) and the dreadful disease conditions involving the Shonita (Blood tissue).

POSSIBLE MODE OF ACTION

Generally, the action Rasayana is attributed to a pharmacological action that will result in overall development and nourishment of all body tissues. Hence this is most commonly equated to the rejuvenative action of present day contemporary science. But when we analyse the complete benefits in the reference starts enlisting the benefits from the point of Shukra Dhatu. This Dhatu is grossly equated to the semen but subtly it refers to any part of the body or cell that has the ability to reproduce. Hence, if the activity of reproduction has to occur, it is quite necessary that the body or the part which is going for reproduction should be well nourished and attained optimum development. Even from an Ayurvedic conceptual point of view the opinion holds good as Shukra Dhatu is the last among the list of Dhatus to be nourished. Hence, to nourish this Dhatu, it is quite necessary to get all the preceding Dhatus (Tissues) to be nourished. Hence an Ayurvedic formulation if notified as a Vrishya or Aphrodisiac will actually have the ability to nourish all the body constituents but more effective on the Shukra Dhatu.

Hence the present formulation even though is said to have predominantly an aphrodisiac effect due to the cumulative activity of the ingredients, it will have an all round effect on nourishment of the body also. Moreover, the Bhang which is the most important ingredient in the formulation that amounts to the 25% of the total ingredient is very well known for its immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory effect. By effecting the endocannabinoid system, this is having the ability to set right many of the bodily functions indirectly too. Thus the formulation is a large warehouse of different medicines all by itself.

    1. The formulation is predominantly composed of purified Bhang leaves. The other are in for enhancing the activity of the same. Usually the Dosha that is effected by Bhang will be seen here also. Hence with respect to the Doshas, the formulation is having Pittakara, Kaphahara and Vatahara effect. Thus overdose of this can lead to the condition of delirium too or getting High. But generally most of the compound formulations are having a Tridoshahara effect. Still they tend to incline towards the effect that the main ingredient will exert.
The disease orientation of Vyadhi Pratyanika, the reference have clearly mentioned it as a very good Kamodreka (Sexual arousal) and Shukrala (Spermatogenesis) formulation. This becomes the main indication. This is again is optimum when taken with milk especially at night. Moreover, as the substance is dominated by Bhang, the formulation is known for sexual wellness, the effect will be much more in problems related to Kapha or Vata or both doshas. This shows that the substance should be avoided in purely Pittaja condition. Bhang is a Deepana drug too which will be useful in treatment of many disease conditions as Mandagni is an important cause of disease.
